Local Initiatives Program.

Projects are intended to strengthen Eastern Ontario Municipalities by supporting “community economic development” that is incremental and strives to enhance the economic development efforts of the Community.

Eligible Projects:
Activities and costs must be incremental and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Community strategic planning
  • Research projects and pre-feasibility studies
  • Innovative marketing/promotional activities
  • Tourism events
  • Seminars/workshops
  • Integration of technology into services
  • Small-scale capital projects
  • Other community-based economic development project

Eligible Costs:
Eligible costs may include, but are not limited to any direct capital or non-capital costs of the project. Only costs that are reasonable, incremental and which relate directly to the eligible activities will be allowed.

Funding Criteria and Guidelines:
Contributions may be up to 100% of eligible costs up to a maximum of $7,500. Eligible applicants include Municipalities and not-for-profit community organizations in partnership with the Municipalities. Funding partnerships are encouraged.

All projects must be completed and funds disbursed
by February 27, 2009

Proposal Requirements:
A formal application is required for each project. Applications will be received until Midnight, December 31, 2008 or until program is fully subscribed.
